Radiation Puppy’s latest single, “Tyrant,” the third explosive and controversial single from their upcoming album of the same name, unleashes their wild, dynamic power. The song features Fuso's aggressive piano riffs colliding with Tony Nickolas's searing guitar lines, all navigated by the haunting vocal harmonies of frontman Chris Hamilton and guitarist Mandy Buttrum. Recorded and mixed by legend J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) and driven by Troy Jones’s thunderous drums, “Tyrant” is an electrifying showcase of the band’s unstoppable chemistry and creativity.
Radiation Puppy burst onto the scene in 2003 with their debut album, Driving Nowhere, cementing their status as a musical powerhouse in the mid-Atlantic, touring the US and UK. Their early work drew comparisons to alternative rock stalwarts, with critics likening them to a unique fusion of Jimmy Eat World and Ryan Adams, while others heard echoes of Matthew Sweet meets Foo Fighters.
Following their initial success, each band member pursued various musical endeavors that added to their collective experience. Chris Hamilton collaborated with Acacia Sears on her album Unravelled and demonstrated his versatility by performing with acts ranging from Baltimore's 70's soul legends First Class to indie folk outfit Midway Fair. Meanwhile, Mandy Buttrum and Fuso explored their own creative projects, adding depth to their musical perspectives.
After the addition of drummer Troy Jones and iconic Baltimore guitarist & singer-songwriter Tony Nickolas, the band's 2017 EP Persona Non Grata demonstrated a mature evolution of their sound while maintaining their pop sensibilities. With the release of Tyrant, Radiation Puppy is poised to make an even greater impact on the burgeoning alternative rock revival movement.
The single, “Tyrant,” was released to streaming platforms on May 20, 2025, with the provocative official music video premiering on June 17, 2024. The third single released by Radiation Puppy this year (“Things You Should Know” and “Please Don’t Make Me Leave the House Again” were released in January and March, respectively) is set to be featured on an Allegedly Records compilation in June 2025. Fans can catch Radiation Puppy performing throughout the summer of 2025, including a main stage appearance at Sowebo Fest on May 25.
